Activity 4 - Intro to Contour:
Phonopaper activity- Students will need devices that can download free applications
-Students will be given paper with the Phonopaper grid on it.
-They will experiment with drawing a melody line.
-Then use the Phonopaper app to read translate the drawing into sound.
-Students will draw a finalised melodic idea and play it through the app.
-Class presentation, each student will play their melodies for the class.
-This will be the basis of melodic contour for their melodies.
-Students will brainstorm on a google doc different keys and modes they know, a demonstration of each will be played as they are added.
-Each student will choose one key or mode that directly relates to their chosen mood/collage
e.g. Dark colours, sad or slow music in a collage would match well with a minor key or Aeolian, Dorian, Phrygian, Locrian modes.
-The next step is to take the melodic contour on the phonograph paper and assign pitches to each line.
