Week 4 of Technology in Music Education was focused on notation software as our class discussed the benefits and challenges of using programs like MuseScore, Finale, Sibelius, Noteflight and Flat. My favorite feature of Noteflight and Flat is that your work is saved on the cloud which makes student projects much more accessible. I personally use MuseScore for my notation as it is a free program and it is very user friendly. Through my degree I haven't had any issues with using Musescore, it is reliable and easy to use. I would recommend students use this program particularly in schools that don't have the resources to purchase subscriptions with other notation software such as Finale or Sibelius. I plan to look into Noteflight and Flat as another option to use in the classroom, I have seen how effectively Noteflight can be engaged with while i was on my first prac placement. The staff there provide embedded files of noteflight so the students can work on and submit their compositions within the LMS.
