The first week of Technology in Music Education we had the opportunity to explore the DAW Soundtrap. This a user-friendly program that can be run in any browser and includes unique features that are incredibly beneficial for classroom use. I have had experience using this program in 2020 as ensembles had to adapt to online rehearsals. An organisation I work with dedicated some of the online rehearsal time to sectional recording projects on Soundtrap. Each student would record a section of the repertoire an line it up to a reference track (a recording of the piece). Then the students would edit their parts if needed and the reference track would be removed. This produced some excellent sectional recordings and the students were able to engage with the music in a new way through using this DAW. I did some experimenting with recording into Soundtrap and played a chorale arrangement of Chopin's prelude #20. I also used this as a demo for my students to record duets with themselves.
