Synthesis and Maker Movement

This week 7 of Technology in Music Education we experimented with synthesizers. We discussed the physics behind the sound wave looking at saw, sine. triangle and square sound waves. We used different techniques to manipulate aspects of the sound such as reverb, envelope, attack, decay, sustain, release. James introduced us to each aspect slowly which was helpful, I was able to follow the changes each control made to the sound. After experimenting with sound synthesis on Soundtrap we looked at a commonly used synthesizer and identified the components we are familiar with. After this class I feel much more confident in approaching and using a synthesizer, I hope to have more opportunities to extend my knowledge in this area.
